Sector get-together with technology transfer

Presented as a “sector get-together with technology transfer”, the latest edition of HERMLE AG’s traditional Open House proved to be a resounding success

This year’s HERMLE Open House closed its doors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday after welcoming more than 1,100 companies and 2,550 visitors, including 750 international guests. For four days, everything in Gosheim revolved around the “sector get-together with technology transfer”.

We welcomed various delegations from over 30 countries – including large ones from the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, France, the USA, Turkey and Mexico. But visitors from Thailand, Malaysia, China, India, Taiwan and numerous other countries were also given comprehensive advice and guidance throughout the four-day event.

The highlights of this year’s Open House included the unveiling of the new Generation 2 models, the extensive automation solutions on show and, above all, the numerous machining demonstrations featuring integrated technology solutions for cost-effective production.

The launch of the first three new Generation 2 models represents the start of a comprehensive product update at HERMLE. The three models selected, C 650, C 32 and C 42, can all be assigned to the medium machining segment in terms of their size and working area. Over the next 18 months, all machine models will be converted to the GEN2 architecture as part of a defined development process.

The automation sector, which has been playing an increasingly pivotal role at HERMLE for many years – over 50% of HERMLE products are now equipped with automation solutions – showcased its prowess with various robot systems. Besides extensive storage solutions, various options for gripping and clamping workpieces were also demonstrated at the event. Visitors discovered that not only hybrid grippers can be changed within the presented systems but also the jaws of the clamping devices, ensuring a high level of flexibility when machining parts.

This year, the focus was once again on the components that encompassed a diverse array of industries and were packed full of technology solutions. For instance, a wide variety of technologies, such as power skiving, grinding/dressing, contour smoothing, reverse countersinking, diamond smoothing, simultaneous deburring, interpolation turning, ultrasonic and temperature probes ACM and process optimisation, were all integrated and demonstrated on one component.

The stand dedicated to these technologies and overseen by our application engineering team generated a great deal of interest. Since it is all about integrating new technologies and existing processes. The familiar HERMLE show set-ups also proved yet again to be a great success. Two halves of a globe measuring 800 mm in diameter were milled and turned. A stainless steel/aluminium spaetzle press was a big hit with visitors. The extensive and diverse line-up was completed with structural parts for the aerospace industry, numerous dies for tool and mould making, engine parts for the mechanical engineering sector and implants for medical technology.

As part of a special show featuring over 40 exhibitors, visitors had the opportunity to discover more about clamping technology, CAD/CAM and hardware and software for HERMLE machining centres.

Our Service department, Additive Manufacturing division and User College effectively showcased to visitors the wealth of services provided by our employees.
